Increasing Online Sales: Part One


Not gettting the results you want from your website? Here's the first of a series of tips that are guaranteed to increase your sales and overall exposure.

The great thing about the internet is that there are a million ways for you to benefit financially from it. Investing in a good website is often the first step to creating a brand and an image for your company or organization. Unfortunately, many companies fail when it comes to optimizing their site from a marketing perspective. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be going over some great ways on how you can optimize your website to get the results you’re looking for. 
 
Focus the attention of your audience on the product you most want to sell. 
B2C and increasingly B2B companies are offering a myriad of products and services. They also have the uncanny habit of throwing it all on the front page of their website. Have you ever walked into a large retail store and become overwhelmed to the point that you forget why you came in the first place? If so, it;s time to clear the clutter.
 
One of the best strategies for making sure your customers don’t feel this way is to focus on a few, maybe even one, service or product on your home page. This will increase sales by creating a more focused shopping experience. According to the eMarketing Association, offering fewer products and including more descriptions about a single product always increases sales.
 
The reasons for this are two-fold. You'll cut down on competition for keywords. Who can compete with Amazon anyway? You’ll drive targeted traffic to your site based on your area of expertise and so you will naturally rise higher in SEO rankings. If you are worried about your other products, don’t be. Your customers, once on your website should be able to navigate easily to other areas of your site. 
 
The best way to find out if this is a good idea for the business you do? Test it out and see if your target audience responds favourably. Success in anything in life is often based on focus and direction. It’s great to make sure that this permeates into every area of your business, including your website.
